CAMP CROSS
She said, “Everybody has a story.” I said, “Okay, here
is mine.” “My experience at Camp Cross changed my life. It is where I
discovered the depth of Christ’s love, where I learned how to share
Christ’s love, and where I met the love of my life.”
It is the place where I learned to dream because I learned the amazing
things that God’s grace can do through you when you open yourself to
that possibility. And as such, I encouraged countless others to trust
God’s grace and for that I was blessed a thousand fold as I witnessed it
happening in others.
Like the relationships that have continued to be significant for me, the
blessings also continued as I have witnessed God’s grace continuing to
work through these folks as they have become doctors, principals,
nurses, teachers, lawyers and actors.
You see, Camp Cross changed their lives, too. I know this because every
time I interact with an old staff member, run into a random camper at an
airport (happens more times than you think) they almost immediately
boldly proclaim it to me.
This proclamation not only comes in the spoken word. I cannot tell you
how many people that I experienced Camp Cross with who have tattooed the
Camp Cross cross on their body! Arms, feet, ankles, neck even over their
heart, folks lives have been so changed by their experience of Camp
Cross that they want to have, to use the language of our understanding
of a sacrament, “an outward and visible sign of the inward and spiritual
grace” which took place at Camp Cross.
My story is that Camp Cross changed my life and I have been blessed to
witness it change countless other lives.”
This is “my story” that I told our new camp director Maureen when she
asked about my story with Camp Cross. Please help me welcome Maureen as
our guest this “Camp Cross Sunday.” You never know - it may change your
life!
Blessings,

The Rev. Brian N. Prior, Rector
